Because I love pampering my animals, I want my guinea pigs, just like our dogs and cat, to rest on something soft and warm. That’s why I started making cushions, pads, and tunnels from fabric. Abroad, this is already common practice, but in Slovenia, people mostly use shavings, paper, or pellets. Hoping to show the benefits of making our pets happy—which is the whole point of having pets—DonCha was born.
DonCha is thrilled to provide soft bedding for all furry behinds.
Instructions for Beginners
Special attention is needed for products for guinea pigs, as they tend to pee anywhere. From now on, I will refer to all these items as “furniture”.
Before washing:
- Shake off and remove all debris (hay, food, etc.).
Washing:
- Machine wash at 30°C (occasionally up to 40°C) or hand wash.
- Wash with similar colors.
- Use liquid detergent.
- Do not use fabric softener, as it reduces fleece absorbency. You can use vinegar as an alternative.
- Avoid tumble drying; air drying is best.
Special care for larger items:
- Items like DonCha Tipi, Cosy bed, tunnel, or hideout should not be crammed into the washing machine.
- After washing, reshape immediately and let air dry in their original form.
Regular maintenance:
- Change and clean furniture regularly. Avoid letting items become too “pee-soaked,” as this causes unpleasant odors, harder cleaning, and discomfort for your pet.
- Daily removal of waste and leftover food will reduce odors and keep your pet’s space pleasant.
- It’s good to have a rotation of furniture so you can swap clean items in.
Introducing new furniture:
- If your pet isn’t used to fabric furniture, it may initially use it incorrectly (e.g., lying on the tunnel instead of inside it).
- Show them how to use it—once they discover how comfy it is, they’ll be excited every time you set it up.
Recommendations:
- Rinse products before first use.
- Observe your pet: if it chews or eats the product, take extra caution.
The longevity of the items depends on proper care. In my own DonCha village, we’ve been using some products for over four years!
Thank you! For any questions, I’m always available.
